Wellness

Regular examinations keep your pet healthy. The medical team at Brazoria County Veterinary Medical Center recommends that all pets undergo a complete wellness exam at least once a year.  Routine exams help us identify and treat diseases quickly.

A complete "nose-to-tail" examination allows us to develop a comprehensive health profile for your pet. This information aids us in future treatment of your pet and helps us identify medical problems at an early stage, before they develop into serious conditions that are difficult and expensive to treat.

The gradual onset of health problems in an apparently healthy pet often goes unnoticed. Once symptoms appear, the condition may be more difficult or costly to diagnose and treat. Although age itself is not a disease, it can bring many conditions that if diagnosed early can be completely reversed or controlled for extended periods of time.

We believe that your pet is healthier when you know more about his or her health care plan. Exams are a great time to share information with you about your pet's health. We may ask you questions about your pet's diet and lifestyle and we encourage you to ask any questions you may have about your pet's health. During an exam, we discuss vaccinations, nutrition, behavior and other topics that are important for maintaining the health and well-being of your pet.

Vaccinations

Due to the many recent discoveries and innovations in veterinary medicine, your pet can be protected from most major diseases. Today, many immunizations and preventative treatments are available that did not exist just a few years ago. The staff at Brazoria County Veterinary Medical Center can help you decide what preventative measures are necessary for your pet(s).

Vaccines create antibodies which protect your pet from disease. Up-to-date vaccinations play a large part in keeping your pet healthy and free from disease.  Vaccine protocols are continually updated and ever changing based upon advancements in veterinary research. Rabies vaccination is required by Texas law for both cats and dogs.  Our doctors will guide you and recommend the appropriate vaccine regimen with your pet's best interest in mind.
